VGA cable query

I know you're the right person for my query. Please tell what these structures are and what is their function in the VGA cable. In some cables its on both end and in some it is present on one end. If its on one end on a VGA cable does it also determines the directionality of the cable in which it has to be attached. I will appreciate your prompt reply as I have to attac a 20 m VGA cable with male heads at both the ends.

^^ don't worry much - that's the most common VGA cable ( Male to Male and that VGA cable will work just fine with your monitor and gfx card/motherboard's VGA port - just make sure your monitor and gfx card/mobo both has this port

or else you need to use some converter cable ...
