Hey Praka, cool down man. Agreed that you are general linux user, but please try to refrain yourself from posting about DRM and evangelising about linux ALL the time. We really appreciate your help, but sometimes you get out of hand. Getting angry so much is not good for your health either :D

^I think I overreacted!but Still, using Linux Will not make you a Uber Geek Just for @digitaldude's info
@idigitaldeuode:You are no one to advice me.mind your business!

I remain a average Linux user for the past 6 years+.when someone says that move to GNU/Linux and FOSS again and again,he must be sure that the GNU/Linux OS is indeed Superior.

Yes.It is purely by choice only for win users.still Linux doesnot have those "WoW" ads running all over net and ur TV.Linux and FOSS awareness grow by posting thorugh forums like these!

I think you should know that an indirect ad for Community which I does!giving cd/dvd and go,try Linux will not help!I am,from 1998 knows what Linux is,and from my first encounter left Linux usage and again started using Linux after reading about Linux in forums!

and,do u think u r a "senior" guy who want to educate me?
you are really a fool to come and start educating me from first! :x go ,learn first that idiotic win/PC novices wont give Linux a try until they read what Linux is!
I too got CD's and Floppies of some distro during my Engg days back in 97-2001  I dont give a damn about the whole thing!

Until you read, understands the superiority of UNIX-like Platforms you wont be caring for FOSS is what and what Linux is!

Still most windows users deserve generalization
they decay themselves inside windows with upgrading/downgrading to vista and xp,searching warez,format-reinstall,wont understand that there are better OS's.

@zeeshan:I think you too have the same disorder due to win+.net addiction+ may be a bi-polar disorder :)

DigitalDude -
It's none of your business to tell other members what he wants to do unless he's not crossing the rules of this place. If you feel irritated, don't respond or leave this place.

1 week of Misery. See to it you don't indulge in such things in the future.

Unmountable Boot Volume
More from the biggest Idiot (or acting so for personal gains through ads).

It wont happen I dont see how this will happen at all.

Vista is far more powerful than windows XP, and runs twice as fast. It is also much harder to pirate, and this point more than anything else has the Linux crowd in a panic.

It wont be long until Windows XP is no longer supported, and when that happens, what is Linux going to do ?

Linux will have to find a way to work under Vista from here on, since it wont be able to rely on XP being readily available anymore.

Linux may seem like a good alternative to Office, but all that is happening in linux is that the windows interface is cleverly hidden away. It still needs the drivers and software services in order to run, and in most cases - that happens WITHOUT a valid windows licence.

This is just plain piracy.

Vista will finally put an end to this blatant abuse of intellectual property, and linux should decline, taking the pirates with it.

Anyone that supports the continuation of Windows XP in place of Vista surely has a hidden agenda .. and you will surely be caught out.

sigh.. either he's just plain stupid like what 80% of windows users are(no offence unless you think you are one in the 80% :D ) or like we know, he's just acting dumb to drive some traffic. Can't believe people follow up with such stupids.

Married!
Hey guys, I have set my home folder permission to:
1:Owner: Me can create and execute
2:My group can create and execute
3:Others None.
Now when i boot with the Ubuntu Live CD and used "gksu nautilus" from there i can access the contents of my Home folder. WHY?
Isnt it suppose to give me Permission Denied Error as i had set it to "Others - None". How is my folder's content safe then when it is easily accessible.
Am I am missing something, guys?

PS: Dont laugh I have no Porn to hide :D
I am just curious yaar.

gksu = root access.

Have you tried without it? Root is above all whatever permissions you give, he/she can access anything, be it live cd or otherwise.

^ No, it doesnt need a password..
But what kind of protection is that, no need of password and anyone with a Live CD can boot and access your files and folders :(
Can someone give some suggestion or it cant be done?

Encrypt what you want to secure. Same goes for Windows, no matter how many rights you set, unless its encrypted (NTFS supports it) it can be viewed somehow.
