usb extension not wrkin...

i bought a usb extension cord...however when i connect its one end to pc and other 2 my pen drive....it says unknown device....
however if i plu the pen drive straight away in the usb port,, it wrks perfectly... i took the cable to the vendor...he attaached to his pc...and to my surprise it worked there...he has win98...
i hav winxp SP2 .... are there any drivers that i need???

well these are cable latency issues man.Some USB devices may not work with the long extension cables coz of the latency factor.Try using a cable of lesser length than u are having right now.

the vendor wont replace them...
isnt there any way that i can make dis particular cable work???

i'd usb extendor cord loose contact problem ; quite similar to ur problem getting a replacement might help
