Guys!

I did a BIG mistake today in my Windows XP SP2.

What I did is, I deleted NTUSER.DAT file in my profile folder ( i.e. under Documents & Settings\Administrator ).

And my computer stopped at Welcome screen next time when I started XP :(

I rebooted in Safe mode and it started windows, but all my user settings were gone, i.e., all registry settings were switched back to defaults, all programs shortcuts were gone from program menu in start button, and many programs also denied to start, coz their registry values were deleted.

Now I wanted to know is there ne way to recover them back?

PS: I hv used PC Inspector to recover that file but In vain, seems that file hv been corrupted.

I don't hv System Restore enabled.

Unlike previous windows, XP stores the registry only in a single file ie. ntuser.dat. So I 99% believe, unfortunate as it is, that you'll have to reinstall the apps. Try another recovery program like EasyRecovery, but with each time you use windows, the chances of recovery decreases. Sorry dear.

No problem m8 :D

I managed to come out this problem.

What I did is, I opened all the apps installed one by one, so that their entires can be again created in registry and make all the changes in the system settings as I always do after a freash installation.

So now my system is running perfectly! :D

Thnx for ur reply!!!
