1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Crysis 2/3, AC3, BO2, Just Cause 2, Max Payne 3, All the games at 1600x1220.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 16k

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:

I was planning to upgrade my PC for 16k

I have a Intel Core2Duo E7500 and I have a G41 Chipset, Asus - P5G41T-M LX

I have an HD 6770 and A CX430v2

I don't know what I should upgrade

honestly I thought my CPU And Mobo are old

so I was thinking of i5 3550 and a B75 Mobo, which fits my budget.
But if you think I should get something else
then I don't know.

I just have 16k with me that I can spend for my PC, and I dont want new parts that I listed in the parts I will be reusing.

Currently no LGA 775 based Quad Core Processors are available and I think if you go for new components then you need go for anew Processor and Motherboard. In that case opt for Intel Core i5 3470 @ 11K + Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H @ 4.2K.
Another option is to hunt for a second hand Core2Quad Processor. Currently in Ebay.in, plenty of used Core2Quad Processors are available at good price point.

Here is the cay link: Intel Core2Quad | eBay. Get a Processor like Q6700, Q8400 or Q9400.

Just scan your local market for price quotations and post here....

For ram, a 4 gb gskill ripjawsx would do totally fine

I didn't misundestand. I have suggested you a Core2Quad which happens to be Quad Core Processor Series and definitely a upgrade from your Dual Core Processor. Read my post properly.

IMO buying old stuff as a upgrade dosent make much sense does it???

Oh sorry Cilus..

yeah I thought I would get an i5 instead..
Do you think a Core2Quad is better than an i5.? at my budget?

get the i5 that you can afford with a decent 1155 based board.. I think that would suffice for now.

In a way @Cilus is right.. All he said was to go for a quad core keeping your mobo intact which is much less priced upgrade. But yeah, it may not be the best idea though.

Take our inputs and use your money wisely :)

draco21 , unlike you, I don't suggest components which just fit in Op's budget by seeing some Online shops, I do little research. Don't post too much your opinions without understanding a bit. Why I have suggested a Core2Quad and what will happen if OP now goes with a Ivy Bridge setup? In this month only, Intel is going to release their Hashwell Processor which will be requiring a complete different socket. So after one year, if OP tries to upgrade, he needs to go for a whole new setup.

On the other hand, if OP goes with a Core2Quad Processor, like Q6700 or Q9400, he will get enough juice to play all the latest games as the C2Q has enough processing power to handle all the games in highest settings. So OP's purpose is served. Now in price point, OP just has to spend around 6K, instead of 17K, required for a i5 + B75 Motherboard. With the saved money, OP can go for higher capacity Rams, good CPU coolers which will help him to enhance the performance.

so you would suggest to buy a c2q with unknown realibility and condition just for pricepoint sake???

just op gets it for 4-6k say that the product works initially but goes wrong in 2-3 months. Then what???

i5 on other hand will be much safe and sound upgrade and after a year or so if he adds a better gpu then he can game no problem 2-3 years....

my vote for i5 but it's op's choice anyways...

also there is a second option.... hang on to the c2d. Just use it for next 4-5 months and buy haswell once it launches....

I heard Haswell isnt a considerable update in performance, just in Graphics.

So do you think its worth it to wait till June for Haswell
or should I buy an i5

cause it kinda sucks that I would buy an i5 and a newer product is coming out just in June and now I'd feel outdated.

So what should I do?

Dude dont be sure of getting in june...

first it launches on paper then the processor and mobo launch in market then they become available everywhere and prices come down and then you get to buy and trust me, you dont want to be one of the first buyers( stuff could be overpriced and there may be unidentified problems that come out later)

my piece of free advice, if you wait, wait till the end of the year and dont jump on them as soon as they launch

or else get i5 and a b75 mobo right now (exact models are suggested above ) Which will last you 2-2.5 years minimum without a hiccup
