Upgrading CPU in Laptop

Right off the assembly line
Is it possible to change the Laptops' CPU?

Present Configuration:
Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 (1.60 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB),
Intel 945GM Express Chipset,
512 MB DDR2,
60GB SATA HDD,
8X Double Layer SuperMulti DVD Writer,
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 (upto 128MB),
14.1” Brightview WXGA TFT,
Altec Speakers, Capacitive Strip,
10/100 BaseT,
Modem,
WiFi 802.11a/b/g,
Bluetooth,
Next Generation - ExpressCard, 5-In-1 Media Reader,
3 USB 2.0,

want to upgrade it with Intel core 2 duo processor

^^I know googling but the question was about availabilty of mobile cpu's. Afaik they are not available in retail stores. When did you last time saw a core i3 380m etc available in retail shops?

^^it is possible but it's not a good idea
1)it's not worth the trouble
2)it's really costly

yup. its really costly as its not available freely. & the supported processors are also limited to a few models.
lastly, some manufacturers solder the processor making it impossible (or a daunting task) to remove the processor.

Thanks for the link buddy. Didn't knew about that. Even sandybridge mobile cpu's are available. But are they available in india as well?

dont know abt india .. search the online stores... most probably u'll have to specially get it ordered
