I have a AMD Athlon XP 2000+, ASUS A7N266-VM Board. With BIOS Revision 1005.

I've bought a new 40GB Transcend Storejet 2.5" External Drive (TS40GSJ25)

I am working in WindowsXP Professional With SP2. The drivers of the USB
Controllers and Properly Installed and the Device status is good. But once
I plug in the Drive the machine responds that it has deteced a USB Mass
storage device and Stuff But Immediately I see a baloon reading "the drive
is High speed and my USB port is low speed" nothing favourable happens.
Please help me out of this. The Installation of the OS is afresh and I also
visited the Co. Site which advices to install SP1 in the FAQ section which
i find absured. The drive is working fine with all other machines and OSs.
Sum1 gimme a solution please.

I've tried updating the latest BIOS revision 1007 too..... Still no use....

dude..are you telling me that your drive is not working or that it seems to be slow ? If it is the latter well nothing much can be done since your USB ports done support the speeds which the external drive is capable of and hence you get the baloon. However the drive should work although might be at a slower speed.

My God...... U really dont get the problem....... Just go through the problem once again.... IT IS NOT WORKING. IT IS NOT WORKING AT ALL. Rather I use other USB drives (not of the same model) and USB Thumb drives which are perfectly funtional.. I dont mind the speed. But u know it has to work first.

Thats why I asked the question man! Look at your post carefully you never mentioned whether it works or not!! All you mentioned is "nothing favourable happens" which could mean a hellava lot of things!!! As far as the drive goes seems to be a problem with your motherboard and the hdd. Did you see if your motherboard site has any patches for transcend HDD's or vice versa ?
