i formatted c: & d: due to some problems.
i installed Winxp, & FOR THE 1ST START
but as soon as win starts after 20=30 sec sys restarts or stops responding showing an error message SYSTEM HAS JUST NOW BEEN RECOVERED FROM A SERIOUS ERROR.

I EVEN TRIED SAFE MODE BUT NO CHANGE. i reinstalled winxp but still same probe, i think its some hardware probe,my mobo is in warranty

Enter the BIOS and load optimised defaults, maybe you messed up a bit with the bios

yes it is a problem with either the RAM or the mobo(northbridge) .... mostly the former....perhaps you could change RAM modules and try? or install Win98SE or something...?

try checking ram with memtest86
also post the error msg. for this read the report which it tries to send.
then only we could figure out whats wrong

Hi,

Having seen the entire chain of blogs, I would suggest the following

1) If it is 80GB HDD, DVDRW, Macro ATX board with less than 300W power supply,
then it is a very good reason for PC to restart, this happens when all the three
resources are engaged with bigger applications.

2) Also check for temperature issues.

3) If it is already 300W power supply, then check the power supply using multimeter in
all the ports & also for fan issues.

Try changing the power supply to more than 300w

Bye.

+1 to white rabbit

please check if any ram pins are faulty(out souldered)
if they r faulty then the data would lag , creating restart
