Symantec Norton Virus (its no typo)

i face a peculiar error these days.....it wasnt there before.....
everytime i open a dos file....this is what happens

i click ignore to start the file....but its annoying..... moreover it shows symantec....whose antivirus i uninstalled ages ago.....anybody faced this problem or have a solution?

PS: i use xp sp2 and i used norton 2005 full almost 6 months back.....and im getting this error for months. i checked m comp for virii and for the file specified in the error message..no luck

What do you mean by a DOS file? You mean files with pif extension? Try looking into the Tools->Folder Options->File Types->PIF for any clues that link it to NAV...

Backup your registry (and set up a system restore point) before trying this...
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Virtual Device Drivers\ in regedit and add/modify the following keys:

Type:String

Value Name: (default)
Value Data:

Value Name: VDD
Value Data: 0000 00 00

Reboot and test...

since when was norton ever able to uninstall itsel successfully !

try sakumars suggestion. else ...

this is what i'd do.
search for norton , symantec on ur pc. delete these files/folders.

download and use 'ccleaner' from www.ccleaner.com to clear ur pc files/registry junk. reboot.

if required try Microsofts 'The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility'.

norton...aagghh ! i had dificulty uninstalling it completely, even on my celfon !
