as far as i analyzed,
a model of WD 250GB hard disk is pricier than 500 GB Hard disk in same brand..

is any other features will affect read write performance.
pl suggest a 250 GB HDD of any brand with good performances and for cool running. (it may be a premium model)
my budget is maximum 3.5k

AFAIK, you would get a 500GB HDD itself in your budget... Check here: *www.theitwares.com/hdd/hdd.htm

You could go for the Seagate 500GB HDD with 32MB buffer for around 3.8K.. The best bet of the lot.. :) However, the sweet spot in the pricing is the WD 640GB HDD.. Costs just around 4K..! Thats an extra 140GB space for aroud 300 bucks extra.. ;)

Mate, the 32MB version of Seagate 500GB is retailing for 2900/- in Nehru Place, New Delhi...

You check your local dealer for the rates... They have fallen a lot in the past few months!

PS And it was rated the best by Digit in their review...

^^Look for Western Digital Passport 250 GB.
For more storage capacity, look for their My Book series. WD provides the best external HDDs IMO.
