stop error while installing xp

i have compaq cq40. i have windows xp sp3. but it is infected with viruses. therefor i am trying to format my laptop . but when i am trying to format it show the following error.
stop 0*000007b(0*f78d2524,0*c0000034,0*00000000,0*0000000)

what should i do. i want to install xp sp2.
my configuration is dual core,2gb ram.
please help me out.

Try a fresh install, should work.

don' install Xp Sp2 when you have xp sp3!
