start windows from cd/dvd

    if there is any way to ro start os from cd/dvd drive?only microsofts 98se,nt,me,xp. no linux.
    no instalation require to strat the machine.

    i think its not possible.what u think???????

    There was an article in a CHIP issue few months ago about doing this. Hell, it was a live USB 8)

    That bootable USB thing was also in Digit a few months ago ... but it requires linux.

    You mean the booting DSL from Linux 'question of the Motnh'? That was different. This only requires Windows, Bart PE and some configuration :)

    What luck! First issue i picked up was the one :D

    it is the May 2006 issue. Obviously, I cannot copy it here :rolleyes:

    let me read it and see if i can find a site with instructions given as nicely as in this issue.

    aren't you supposed to put your own tuts there? Anyway, I have not tried this myself, so I don't want to do that. Maybe you should do it after you try it. ;)

    It wont be copyright infringement .. just type out the whole tut and in the beginning put source chip may 2006 .... am letting u put it there and waiting for it.

    Live CD created with Bart PE is not exactly like windows though. Isn't there any other way?

    See it for yourself. Try it on a RW CD. I had created it long ago. It comes nowhere near installed Win XP. :-(
