Sp2 shield icon on taskbar

Hi all,

I recently installed sp2 on my winxp machine.....a new shield like icon appears on the taskbar....how can I get rid of it. I've turned off its firefall and everything else.....but it still appears???

Hello sir Just u TURN ON ALL THE THING as like in screenshort.KNOW U DONT THE shield like icon appears .TURN ON IT IT ESSENTIAL TO PROTECT UR PC....

The security centre shield only monitors the status of the antivirus, automatic updates and firewall..

if you want to get rid of that shield disable the security shield service as shown in the screen shot.

To access service area type services.msc in the command promt.

If you want to remove the shield from the system tray you will not receive any tips as to how to protect your computer.However if you are like me,that is one who does not want Microsoft to tell how to protect my own PC then proceed as follows.

Go to Start Menu.Click Run.Type "services.msc" and press enter.In the window that appears scroll down till you find a service named "Security Center".Double click on it and in start up type select "Disabled".

This will get rid of the shield icon and the annoying balloon tips.But remember to turn on the firewall.

Very true...I better how to protect my PC, I dont't need any advice form Microsoft.

But remember to turn on the firewall.

I'm running ZoneAlram...so no more threat from now...of cource it's better than windows firewall!!!
