I uninstalled Nero 6.6.16 because it was not properly writing any of my DVD's. so i got message to reboot so that the uninstall of nero will be complete. so i rebooted. on restarting my computer i found that both of my DVD ROM drives had disappered. i tried System Restore (to restore) to previous Restore points but of no use. So decided to reinstall my Windows Media Center Ediion. Again it was useless as the DVD ROms Didnot appear. I can see in the device manager under the CD ROM Tree ... both my DVD ROMs Find a mentioned, but there is a question mark beside it. & it is not acesssible to me. Moreover sombody suggested me to scan my system so i scanned my system with Norton Anti Virus & found out W32.Pinfi virus had got into my system. plz suggest how to remove this virus without reinstalling the operating System as it is a cumbersome task & then i have to load all the drivers & my files all over again.
I use Windows MCE, 512 MB RAM & have A SONY DRU 720 A DVD WRiter & a Samung 616 DVD ROM

seeing my 4th thread 2de, stating the poor permormance of norton !!!

i have always said, norton is a good brand, but a poor product. i wud expect my anti-virus to detect AND REMOVE the fxxxxxx malware infection.

i suggest u start using freeware avast or avg. if u really want to have ur pc protected. else download freeware bitdefender 8 anti-virus (its great) from *www.bitdefender.com/site/Main/view/Download-Free-Products.html it does not have real-time scanning but is GREAT to have as a 2nd on-demand anti-virus scanner. watch it remove ur infections !

Download the Removal tool and run it in safe mode. After this, its better to perform an online virus scan. You can scan at Panda or TrendMicro HouseCall
