sony soundforge avi error

hi,

i jus installed "sony soundforge 8" and when i tried to play a movie ripped file in xvid format, i get this error,

an error occured when trying to open 1 or more files. the file is an unsupported file format

how can i come over this problem so tat it wud play those?

Sony Soundforge is an audio editor.Use Sony Vegas to open and edit the file.

wehn i try to open a file, under the known extension, it has wmv, asf, mpg, avi etc.. everything! and it opens video files otehr than avi format! nywyas wud try tat too... thk u.
