Hello Friends.
I hv Win Xp +Sp2 , AMD 64 bit 3000+, Asrock MoBo , 512 MB DDR 400 Mhz from Zion, 2 x 80 GB HDD from Seagate.
And My DVD Writer Model is : SONY DVD RW DW-Q30A

Its working fine except that all media which has written 4.7 GB above it is shown having a capacity of 4489 MB (I use NERO 6 OEM Edition). Why So ? I'm unable to burn these DVDs upto atleast of 4700 MB :(( . Quite a loss from me.
Can u figure this out for me.?

It's perfectly normal. It happens because the makers of optical media consider 1 GB = 1000x1000x1000 bytes instead of 1 GB = 1024x1024x1024 bytes.
Same reason your 80 GB hard disk only has 74 GB of usable space.

That's right. you won't be able write data to its full capacity. You may even try
over-burning. The harddisk manufacturers use different maths formula!!
4.7 GB = 4490 MB.
