You are right i get once a month.I resist any offers even for free cards.Actually credit card increases temptation to buy.I feel am fine with my debit card.

No...it won't work if talking of internet merchants outside India.

It will work on ATMs and shops.

Yes, you can use for withdraw cash and shopping. I used my SBI international visa debit card and Standard Chartered visa card , but every time you swap your then you have pay exchange rate plus taxes. So it will be better if you withdraw cash once. There is limit in your card ask your bank about may be around Rs25000 in a day.

Most banks charge a service charge for ~3% apart from the FOREX conversions for which you are at the mercy of the banks own rates but xe.com is a fairly accurate calculator of how much you'd pay.
