1. Just make a partition on your system for Ubuntu 30 GB + recommended.

2. Download and insert Ubuntu CD. Choose 12.04 LTS

3. Boot from Ubuntu CD and you will find an install option. Click on it.

4. The installation is just similar to XP. Choose the drive and install.

5. There is an option to make sure that it is dual boot and Grub will automatically show you the option to switch between Ubuntu and Windows while booting.

Look buddy. We can help you in this. but, if we help now, you'll expect help later too. this way you'll never be able to learn anything and will always be dependent on someone. If something looks confusing, Google it and see what it means. There are numerous guides available for the purpose.

Just for record for those who reach this thread.

Among the options, use the last one during installing. It is something like " Let me choose what to do " or something. Beforehand make 2 paritions in Windows. One is for SWAP (2-3 GB will be fine), second for the installation.

Now that you get into custom option to install, you will be able to format both paritions and use the 2-3 GB one as SWAP Area. The second one, all you need to do is format or delete parition and make it in ext4 format and choose " / " option for mount. That's all.
