Hey guys, can any one of you plz tell me if der is a software(freeware) available which can list the files on CD/DVD's and later enables me to search for it, n tell me which CD/DVD?????

Try CD catalog expert..it is a neat and good s/w..I am using the same..just google it.

dude i found CD catalog expert but its a 30 day trial.....

do u have any freeware?????

WhereIsIt is also good. I have been using it for the past 4 years. The free/shareware version has the limitation that you can open only one catalog at a time. It works without much problem in Wine.

I'll write my own program for this.....In java.... N make it open source...

In Linux can be used to display Tree structure of a directory or partition or CD and then the output can be directed to a text file which can be searched.

Very tricky though.. :D

yaar, that's easier in windows...
well in windows go to DOS n write:-

tree E: /f >filename.txt

n the entire list will be saved as filename.txt in the current location...
