@Saurabh,
If you want FireFox browser to zoom like a F1 car, You need to do these tweaks!!!
Type
about:config in the URL field, press Enter key.
To change numeric value, select it , right-click, 'Modify', Enter the new
value in the dialog that appears. To change boolean values (true/false),
You must select 'Toggle'.
In the
Filter textfield, type
network.dns (Press Enter)
Change
network.dns.disableIPv6 -> true
Now type
network.http in the 'Filter' field
Change these values of the following items:
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy -> 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server -> 8
network.http.pipelining -> true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests -> 24
network.http.proxy.pipelining -> true
network.http.redirection-limit -> 8
network.http.request.max-start-delay -> 0
Restart the FireFox browser for the changes to apply. And see the speed difference!!!!
Open the Terminal Window & type:
$
net lookup www.ubuntu.com
You'll get the IP address of
www.ubuntu.com
Now open
Network Settings, for that type:
$
gksu network-admin
Here, click on the 'Hosts' tab , click on the 'Add' button (on the right)
A dialog pops up by name 'Host alias settings'
Now enter the IP address & website
IP address : 82.211.81.166
Aliases : www.ubuntu.com
Click on the 'OK' button.
Similarly you can go on adding websites you browse regularly & often
Add them using the 'Add' button. Get the websites IP address using
net lookup command.
Warning: Remember you must double-check the IP address, giving the wrong IP address will go to some other website!!!
NOTE: The settings I have given are for broadband users only with a speed of atleast 128 kbps.
For dialup users the settings will vary!!
