My friend wants to buy a new PC:

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Slight gaming, games like GTA 4, FIFA14, Arkham City, Far Cry 4 and then apps like C++

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:25-26k. Not a rupee more.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:Nope.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: W7, Ubuntu

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 500gb will suffice.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Using TV as a monitor. 1080p monitor he says.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Only monitor.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Next week.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler, mostly

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Chennai. Open to both.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: No

There is no point of recommending older generation Trinity and Richland based APU here which has already reached the EOL and if OP is gonna opt for something like 7870K or 7770K, the total system cost will be higher without any real life performance advantage. Performance wise FX-4300 is slightly more powerful than 7870K because of its higher clock speed and 4MB L3 cache. Similarly, the IGPU of 7870K is more powerful but lacks the dedicated Graphics memory. So a R7 240 coupled with a GDDR5 memory actually offers same performance of the 512 SP based 7870K's iGPU which lacks the dedicated memory channel and higher speed memory.
