Me too have a SamSung DVD ROM SD616E... which i bought when digit gave a DVD buying offer with Samsung to push its DVDs...

this drive is also very crepy with Tray... Ghostly Tray ... it has its own mind of opening and closing... some time non stop...

Hmmm....same problem faced by many people! How can Samsung mess up with their CD/DVD drives? Other than Monitors, I wonder which are the 'quality' products they offer?

dont spend even a penny more for ur samsung drive..it is of no use.. even i ave a Samsung drive & 'm facing the same problem.. i.e the tray cant be controlled by me.. it'll eject wen it wishes & it closes whwn it feels to do so..and understanding the wish & will of the drive i have to insert cds/dvds..
i gaveit twice for service & experienced d same problem.. for d 1st 2 weeks it'll function properly after then it goes outta control..
it irritated me to the core & finally i got a SONY drive.. now i care a damn about the samsung drive.. better buy some other drive..
