[Query] Should I send Cowon EM1s for replacement or fix'em myself?

My Cowon EM1s failed after a measly 5 months, pieces of cr@p, even though I took good care of them. It seems the wire has detached from the 3.5mm connector. I sent the Cowon people a mail to claim warranty and replied asking me to ship the earphones to them to Mumbai to check them.

My question is, is it worth the hassle to send the earphones to them, given that the IEMs don't have screens anymore (they got dirty and I lost them while cleaning), the cost of shipping them from HP to MH, and that I could most likely fix them myself?

What's the cost of shipping? What's a IEM screen? I suggest you brainwavz next time for peace of mind in terms of warranty. They don't ask you to ship anything and they'll ship the replacement next day. Heard good things about sennheiser too.
