Sony Ericsson today has announced the innovative W902 Walkman™ for those who want it all. The 8GB Memory Stick Micro™ (M2) lets you store more than 8,000* songs and switches seamlessly from music to media to experience crystal clear video capabilities. The W595 is also unveiled today and is packed full of innovations that get you and your friends ready to rock.

London July 22 - No longer do you need to make a choice between music, media and imaging when picking your next phone. Compromise is now a thing of the past thanks to Sony Ericsson’s new W902 Walkman™, a phone that goes beyond music and gives users everything they need in one pocket-sized stylish device. Downsize your bag, free your pockets and leave your music player and camera at home - use the premium W902 phone to play your favourite tunes, snap those precious moments or watch crystal clear video on the bright, scratch-resistant 2.2” QVGA display.

“We all want more from our mobile phones than ever before.” said Ben Padley, Head of the Music Category at Sony Ericsson, “If you love music but don’t want to compromise on imaging and video, we have used our expertise as music phone specialists to give users a truly multimedia experience with this latest phone. The W902 is one of our most high-performing phones yet and perfect for those who want it all.”

The W902 delivers music as it was meant to be heard through Sony Ericsson’s revolutionary clear audio experience. With crystal clear sound quality and a dramatically richer bass, together with Sony Ericsson premium headphones, HPM-77 included in-box, your favourite tracks will sound better than ever. The W902 features the same superior sound quality as the W980, about to launch shortly, which was rated ”best audio experience” this month, in a trial conducted in Germany by TESTfactory**.

What a coincidence, I was reading about W902 in the evening, and you just post it here.

Sorry to crash your party, but this is what mobile-review.com had to say about it! I will produce the exact words :p

Sony Ericsson W902 – it should’ve been cancelled
An excerpt: (..on the lack of 3.5mm audio jack on a supposedly music phone..)
Another question that still remains unanswered, is whether a handset needs a 3.5mm jack or not in 2008. But then users will be able to user custom earphones and will figure out the difference in audio quality! So no, 3.5mm aren’t welcome in mobile phones. Interestingly, on some markets original Sony Ericsson’s accessories are incredibly thin on the ground – for instance, in Russia after spending just shy of 200 USD I still don’t have an original headset. Indeed, three are tons of pretty good fakes out there, but that’s about it – stuff like this goes for a couple of bucks in China, here they sell it for 50. Nice business!

hehe, thanx Hitboxx, i was sure someone was going to post that crappy and extremely biased review by mobile-review. SE is going great guns and no one can stop it.

The headset combines elegant design and high quality – the sound is good indeed, provided that you use the headset in a bundle with W980i or W902. These two models have a Clear Audio Experience settings menu, providing serious sounding advantages.
The sales package also includes a USB adapter for M2 Micro cards; the design was slightly changed since W910i. It's a handy little device facilitating photo and music transfers, eliminating the necessity of a card reader. The supplied 8 Gb card is a very generous gift fully justifying the relatively high price of the solution. W902 will start selling by late October at a price of 350 euros. You get a highly functional music phone with the latest player version on board, a motion sensor, a camera not too bad for a music phone, a variety of audio enhancing settings, a nice quality of assembly and materials after all. The handset is accompanied by a 8 Gb memory card and a high-quality headset available from the sales box. Following the New Year, the price will be corrected, eventually making the product a very balanced solution.
About W595

The stereo speaker reside at the top and bottom ends of the slider. The audio quality is very impressive – mind the deep basses rarely heard on miniature handheld gadgets. This is clearly better than Nokia N78, without any doubt. The distance between the speakers is enough to feel the stereo to the full. We have long been looking forward to a full-blown stereo in a SE phone.

The reviewer needs help, as if you dont get fake Ep 630s. LOL. Theres places called Sony showrooms, or reputed branded shops. Spends 200 USD for an SE earphone, i guess you can easily say that the guy was drunk.

ok maybe im missing something....but can someone please tell me whats NEW in these phones?????

i mean i was expecting something great with the HYPE that SE was trying to build. but this is hardly anything. the high end phone, W902 is just like one of the many phones which come and go. i dont find anything great about it.

if its all about the clear sound experience thing, then it would be quick to comment, as its better to wait for a few more reviews before announcing that the sound output is the best.

oh and no wi-fi??????? now even 10k phones got wi-fi.

also no GPS, no mobile office. i dont think its a smartphone. but would still be pretty expensive looking at the 5mp cam.

^^hehe, its a walkman phone, stay tuned for the 20th aug announcement. 16 Gb full touch walkman, 5 mp smartphone.. .we are talking dude.. :D

its a feature phone, and all these phones come with inbuilt google maps, with maps installed. You wont be able to locate your position, but you will have the routes. There are people who dont use wifi anyway. Its quite moderately priced.... 300 euroes is decent for a phone of this calibre..

Its 300 Euroes in Europe, so it will at least be 3k less in India. It will start retailing at 18k max and then fall steeply, as with most SE handsets. The prices will fall eventually.

K850 was 400 euros and launched at 24k. W902 is 300 euros and will launch at??

400-->24000
1-->60
300-->60x300=18k

18k at launch is good enough IMO. Walkman+Cybershot. People will grab it by the collar. For wifi SE has the C905.

Hey guys, check out how impartial M-R is. :D

A certain telecom market expert (whose name must not be pronounced in vain by lowly mortals, so we'd rather refrain) then started speculating about HTC's impending death, without even knowing that it was actually the ODM producer bound by contract to develop and issue SE's ambitious PDA. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named dispersed a good dose of rumor concerning the alleged new leader of the Windows Mobile platform, which made little to no sense. Unfortunately, even the most knowledgeable of telecom experts manage to get the info on time, which on some unlucky occasions leads to misinformation lurking into serious-looking articles; that's just what happened this time as well. The recent article claiming the cancellation of two smartphones in full obedience with the mentioned person's piece of advice was violently refuted by the manufacturing company themselves. Such a reason for pride can only squeeze a bitter smile from Sony Ericsson's officials, for the real fact behind the cancellation of the two products is the massive reorganization taking place within the UIQ group under the guidance of Symbian foundation (rather than a couple of articles on a site). He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named found himself deeply offended which led to degrading remarks targeted at XPERIA X1, which started being depicted as a bleak shadow of HTC Touch PRO unworthy of public attention. Let's have a more sober look at the products, pushing aside all of the emotion.

Anyways, if you aren't satisfied with the Flash of your SE fone, you can always go for the MXE-60 Xenon flash add-on accessory from SE........
