Samsung Galaxy S3 or LG Nexus 4

U used custom roms , kernels , patches and various other tweaks available on xda ??
truth about nexus 4 will bi evident to you only after a while when others will stop getting update.
ask those who were stuck on 2.3 and didnt got upgrade to 4.x , while most nexus devices did. The pain to run unstable and buggy 4.x is just unbearable.
And its not for those who love Heavy UI , it's for people who love to fiddle and try different stuff on their phone due to mass availability of various stuff. Being a nexus user yourself I am sure you know about these already. Maybe your approach or liking is different. Its about personal liking too.

Its not necessary that if a phone is stuck on 2.3 official the 4.x unofficial will be laggy lol
Case in point my Galaxy S which was last updated to 2.3.6 officially is ATM running 4.4.2 like a dream.
Its not necessary that for a good dev support you need a nexus,just a phone which has good hardware and chipset whose sources have been released unlike some **coughSamsungcough**

yeah tried almost every rom available (except PSX & MIUI) on my N4 in last 7 months..
Right now using stock with Xposed framework + gravity box..

& yup My LG optimus net old is still on 2.3.4 not even 2.3.7 !! lol
but still I did not find anything special in 4.4.2 either..

Yes but its not unlikely too . For instance take that of tegra 2 devices , the first dual cores on planet. Still dying for a 4.x beta release . Yes the release is in Alpha till date. There are numerous bugs , though hats off to the devs who did so much for it.

With nexus at least you are sure that this won't happen at all.

Yeah also nexus is for those who like to be on the bleeding edge like me

IMO. If you arent looking to play around with your mobile so much on OS front, go for a non Nexus whichever money can buy for u at the moment. Avoid LG if you think you need the updates flowing. Avoid samsung if you think the design is pretty normal and for the build quality.

Among N4 and S3 -> S3 wins for the goodies it is tied with other than the better specs on N4. N4 for sheer raw power.

Agreed, if you want a high performance device, then there is no competitor to N4 for its price............
S3 is an allrounder with better screen, storage & battery life than N4 but has lower performance & slower updates compared to N4....

S3 has good dev support
Even S2 has got 4.4 from devs, but I won't install it on dad's S2 because then it will lose video calling option & Samsung goodies (currently using a 4.1.2 based custom ROM)

I'm using crDroid ROM....... I don't like stock because of lack of customization options, so I prefer to stick with custom (still on 4.4 though, will update after getting back to college)
Xposed works fine in 4.4 it seems but there are few modules available, but more will come as days pass

S3 has still got no 4.3 update,atleast in India,and there are rumours that Samsung may again skip that and go to 4.4 directly.
This BS by Samsung has made me vow never to touch a Samsung again

It would get 4.4 too, it only skipped 4.2

Tthank you guys. I checked the nexus 4 at a LG care and i saw thats its back is Made of GLASS!!! It can easily break .. I think ill go for the blue S3 .. another question how about Htc one x ? Is it better than s3 and plays hd games?

The S3 is better than the One X. Though at this range, i think the Xperia ZR makes more sense. Water proof and dust proof, 2 GM RAM, decent battery life, expandable memory. Anyways your call.

Hi I was too in confusion about S3 and N4. Go for S3. Both are powerful devices but expandable Storage, and AMOLED screen are something you don't wanna miss when you are paying so much. It got removable battery.
And more importantly, vanilla android is not that great. And you have to customize it to your taste. S3 got better camera.

Yes if its between S3, S4 and N5, surely N5 then.

I thought N4 wud trump S3 in suggestions here. But its clear that vanilla android is not as good as hyped up to be. Some do love the touchwiz interface. This is the great thing about android. Lots of choices and freedom.

Yes if its between S3, S4 and N5, surely N5 then.

Between S4 & N5, the difference is performance is not as much as in case of N4 vs S3, due to 2GB vs 1GB RAM

Still between S4 & N5, N5 16GB is available for 29k, which is easily 5k less than local price of S4, but still S4 has better camera, camera features & battery life. Google has to optimize battery life in their Nexus phones

Ok i chcked a import Shop here and found that the gt i905 would cost 15000 and htc one x 32gb quadcore for 12800!! So if i get those would i get warranty from Samsung or Htc .. Please tell guys final which one does make sense to go for..

I9305 was not launched in India so no warranty.. But it's gr8 than regular S3 as it's having 2 gig ram.. So go for it..

It would get 4.4 too, it only skipped 4.2

But not in India yet,plus the new ROM still has battery drain,slow response issues.

As I9305 was never released here, so paid repairs too might be a problem......... So One X 32GB seems a better deal, but that Samsung one is too good for the price to be left off !! I would pick Samsung

Ask Samsung India about paid repairs(if accident occurs)
