Supports any OS till date, but yes you much keep it in compatible File format, dont expect to work in Windows 98 SE with large NTFS partition...

its USB 2.0, and HDD is SATA-I 5400 RPM !!! so will work in speed of a normal Lappy HDD... :)

once again, its out of my knowledge, that people are ready to buy a 4 GB Pen driver for Rs. 2000 for 4 GB Pen drive, but they dont consider the option of Laptop HDD + USB Casing,

80 GB Segate + Techcom USB portable Casing will cost Rs. 2400/- + TAX in Kolkata, thats Exact 2500/-, for which u get a Coool 80 GB Storaghe with USB plug and play...

and here is the size...

So if storage is the only reason one buying, then tell guys, Rs. 1800/- for a 4 GB or Rs. 2500 for a 80 GB ?? which one would be ur choise ??

yes certainly if one plans to run ready boost of Vista or rather keep the Page file in USB device for faster system performance, then Pen drive is the choise but for storage, sorry to sound rude, but really spending Rs. 1800 or 2000 for 4GB where as in Rs. 2500, 80 GB is available, sounds really dumb to me...

:(

Even this guy is selling 160GB + Casing for Rs. 3200 shiped... *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showpost.php?p=572210&postcount=9

well...i am in Goa but have contacts at Laminton road...can u suggest which is the best place in mumbai...or at laminton road(grant road).... to buy this product....

Saurav, it would be requiring external power supply, I guess.

Hey not attending todays Meet in city center Kolkata ?? (i suppose u r from Kolkata too ??)

On Topic,

No Laptop HDDs with Casing will not need External Power... how ever More largers 7200 RPM 3.5" Desktop ones will need external Power hence their Casing will come with a Power adepter :)

go for the laptop drive with external casing its the best option if u need more space and want to hav all ur precious things backed up.NO need of bulky power adapter and no quirks abt less space.

I agree with Choto Cheeta.

Thanks, for the information about casings requiring power and the ones that don't require power.

Read this thread at a very good time. I was planning to buy a pendrive by next month. Idea dropped. Thanks once again for it.

BTW, I am from Pune.

Saurav, the product code of the casing would be helpful. (I don't want to end up buying the wrong thing) :D

my suggestion is that if u r goin for a laptop casing combo...don't go for a cheap chinese casing..i have burnt my fingers with that...spend a little more and go for a transcend 2.5' hdd casing..will cost u around rs 900/-...excellent looks coupled with performance and never go for transcend v series flash drives..they suck...
