Router Or switch??

Hi,
I have Hathway internet connection and recently my brow bought a laptop, So now he also wanna use the same network. Can you guys help me in creating a network, what should I buy a switch or a wifi router. which one would be cheaper and convenient.

For sharing a cable based connection, you'll need a router. Switch wont work. A wifi router should cost around 1.7-2k.

How many machines we can connect with a wifi router??
I mean there in router we can also have wired connection + wifi connection ?

yes ofcourse...a wifi router can have 2 to 4 or more lan connections.
although da drawback is the more connections the less speed to each terminal...
go for cisco or a d-link router..

Can anyone suggest a decent model of D-Link wifi router ? I don't want the High End models.

yeah same thing here...can any one tell me how much it will cost to have a router with wifi and without wifi. I think D-link is better.
