Root passwd

Somebody has changed my root password in Linux red hat 9.I m pressing 'e' during GRUB loading and getting two lines-'rootnoverify(hd0'0)' and 'chainloader +1'.What do i have to do next to change the password?

It says there must be a line named 'kernel'.But theres no such line in here.

The problem is that you are editing the grub line for some other OS, probably windows. First select line with "Redhat Linux" (or something similar), with your arrow keys and then press "e".

Must be in Open source section.

add a single and press b to boot then type passwd in the shell to change your root password.
