CABINET FAN| XTRAFLO*2| 1.2| 0
MONITOR LCD| NOT DECIDED| 6| 3
| | 39.5|

Any AMD based suggestion is welcome. Budget should not exceed at any cost

Also Tell me how many of these are not from RASHI PERIPHERALS .I think we should mention the Dist name also while building CONFIGS now a days. .

no overclocking no serious gaming. Purpose is just general, some audio, some video DVD,HD, BLU RAY, some casual gaming(directx10). Later HD 5670 can be added without changing any component and Surfing with downloads. So i have not filled up the template.

Mods pls change the word 30k to 40k in the Thread Title. I am unable to change it.

that AMD mobo has a lot more features than the Intel mobo.so i suggest to go with amd and change the processor to 955BE at 6k with remaining 2k get cm hyper 212 plus.and don't forget to get the 3.1 rev of the mobo.

Spending 10 K on RAM in 40 K budget not wise you can Opt for G Skill Ripjaws 4 GB @ 1.8 K approx & save 6 K ,go for Benq G2220 HD Monitor @ 6.8-7 K & for ODD go With Asus instead of LG

I think Core i5 2400 based config is a better option here. It offers performance better than Phenom II 955 by a huge margin and it is also a lot advanced whereas AM3 is a dying architecture. Intel DH67BL is a decent motherboard and it offers most of the features which are needed in day to day life. It features USB 3.0 and SATA III 6 Gbps support.

Here is my suggestion:-

Intel Core i5 2400 @ 9.3K (in Kolkata it is available @ 8.7K)
Corsair 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Value @ 1.2K
Intel DH67BL-B3 @ 5.2K (Kolkata price is 4.8K)
NZXT Gamma Cabinet @ 2.1K
Seagate 500 GB 7200.12 SATA HDD @ 1.8K
Corsair GS600 80+ PSU @ 4K
LG 22X SATA DVD R/W @ 0.9K
MSI HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 @ 6.4K
Dell 2030M @ 6K
Logitech Mk100 Combo @ 0.5K

Total 37.2K.

^^brother if he go with 955 at 5.8 k then he will be able to get a 6850.and for that he should buy a 6k mobo and at that price he can get all the decent features of that intel mobo.so isn't it clever choice to spend on a good graphics card?
even he can go with 6870 0r 6950 as his budget is 40k.

Although at gaming gpu is more important than CPU, a better and new architecture based CPU is always recommended for long run as a desktop is not only for gaming. Phenom II series has already reached their EOL and it does not have anything new to offer. On the other hand Sandybridge is the new boy in town, offers exceptional performance in current applications and has much to offer in future when software as well as games will start to use new instruction sets like SSE4/4.1, AVX etc. That's why it is a better choice for now as well as far more future proof.
Currently HD 6850 is retailing within 9K locally in most of the areas and a lot of forum members have confirmed that, especially in Bangalore. So he can spend 2K extra to get a HD 6850 instead of a HD 6770. But I think Sandybridge is a must have component here.

Agree with cilus, we already saw that people who were spending money in AM3+ ready mobos were already disappointed by Bulldozers performance & IMO it will take atleast 1 year for AMD to to offer something better again. So opting intel SB is wise choice.

PS: lucky Cilus Kolkata has really low Prices. :)

Intel Core i5 2500k @11.2K ( future perfect )
Intel DP67DE @ 5.9k ( cheapest P67 )
Corsair Value Series 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 @ 1.2K
Zebronics Aviator @ 2.2k ( 4x 120mm LED fans per-included - great looker )
Seagate 500 GB 7200.12 SATA HDD @ 2.1K
Benq G2220HD @ 7k ( Great for HD movie watching )
Corsair Cx430v2 @ 2.3k ( enough for the config )
LG 22X SATA DVD R/W @ 1.1k
MSI/Sapphire HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 @ 5.5K ( enough for casual gaming and HD movies )
Altec BXR1221 @ 1k ( Personal Favorite )

^^ Topgear, the above config is really gr8 but one thing:-
BenQ G2220HD is a Full HD display offering resolution 1920X1080. At that resolution HD 6670 is not good enough to play all the current titles and upcoming titles, even with lowered details for some games.
For full HD, HD 6770 is bare minimum. So I think sticking with a 20" display and HD 6770 will provide better gaming performance. Also at your config, if you just change the Display to some 20" one then also the config is good enough.

UPS APC 600VA 1900 2
Total 31800

For your requirements such a rig would be ideal. Why spend so much on the CPU+ mobo for such needs. The SB i3 is very power efficient and pretty powerful too.

Optional upgrade
GPU Sapphire HD6670 1GB GDDR5 5000 3

Thanks for the update.

Yes that was a typo...corrected.

Now my friend has no idea regarding config. He will take blindly whatever i will give that should last long at least for 5 yrs. So considering INTEL part i finalize:

Intel Core i5 2500k |11.2
Intel DP67DE |5.9
Corsair XMS 2GB*2 1333 MHz DDR3 |1.7
Seagate 500 GB 7200.12 SATA HDD |2.1
CORSAIR 450VX|2.5
LG 22X SATA DVD R/W |0.9
CM 430|2.5
Logitech Mk100 Combo |0.5
Dell 2030M |6
APC 650VA|3.3
Altec BXR1221 |1
|37.6

He needs UPS more than GPU now. May be later he can buy it. So in that Case will he be able to watch HD movies and play casual gaming.
I am getting 450vx from a digitian with 3 yrs warranty. Will it be able to handle MSI HD 6770 1GB GDDR5

He wants a transparent side panel cabby.

Get a single 4 GB memory instead of 2X2 modules as 4 GB is the current standard and also will save one memory slot. Avichandana, VX450 is EOL and very hard to find. Get the GS600 istead as suggested by me and other members.

ok i will take 4 gb module.

1)By EOL i think u r implying its availability and not the quality.
For that reason i am buying it from a DIGITIAN with 3rs warranty. Will there be any problem regarding RMA for a discontinued product? Isn't Corsair GS60080+ PSU a overkill for his rig?

p67 motherboard need a graphics card. They will not work without it.

In that case Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H is agood choice with some graphics.

That friend of mine is not at all prone to games. He is least bothered regarding games. If he gets some(that also the old ones) he will play otherwise not. but movies is a must. That is why i thought of AMD CONFIG first. Now i am in a toss AMD or INTEL.

Performance wise INTEL is ok. But without GPU it is dead.

Performance degrades(Is it very low?) in AMD but will be able to watch HD MOVIES with IGP.

Buy a new GS600 instead of an old vx450. No doubt vx450 is a terrific psu but has limited power wattage. It will restrict addition of upper mid-range gpu's. in future.
Go for intel eyes closed now. i5 2400 is the perfect cpu for you. Its the best gaming and all purpose cpu at its price. Don't go for a "k" processor if you have no intentions of overclocking.

You can watch hd movies with the sandybridge gpu as well. Its strong enough for that purpose. Just add a good gpu later.
