Right off the assembly line
hi,

I am shrikant. I want to format my c: and reinstall windows since it has too many spywares for my liking lately. But i also have linux installed in my pc.. although on a seperate hard drive its boot loader is with the Master Boot Record of windows. previously when i did reinstall windows once... i had to install linux (fedora core 3) once again. I had tried to upgrade the existing linux by just installing the boot loader once again... but it didnt work and i had a message

"no kernel installed in the system.... boot loader configuration will not be upgraded".

this time i have my college final year project on my linux partition.. so i dont want to play around or experiment. can someone help me out on this one ?
please tell me how to get boot loader into the system once again after i reinstall window (XP professional).

thank you.

Linux to windows.

Dear Friends,
I have same type of question, but vise-versa. I had installed fedoraCore 4 in my PC last week. But due to some reasons(I don't like it) I wanted to remove it. So I directly deleted the linux partitions from my HDD. But when rebooting, the grub command prompt came asking for grub commands. I was not able to go to my Windows XP. I don't know how to change the bootloader from Linux to windows. As there was no way, I had reinstalled windows xp.
Now can anyone tell me which is the correct method to remove linux?.
If anything happens wrong while removing linux, is there any way to recover Windows XP without reinstalling?
Thanks. :D
