u lost the old MBR
just give the necessary path in the boot.ini file

and boot frm the XP home CD and give fixmbr in the repair menu

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro$oft *** professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

this is how boot.ini looks like this mine

copy this on to note pad make changes according to os and partions and save it on notepad as "boot.ini" (without " ")

thi will solve u r problem.
