Hi,
For the past 2 to 3 days, I've been having some problems with my PC. When I directly restart my PC or shut it down and power on again, the system doesn't boot at all.. It just accesses the drives and then nothing happens. If I wait for 10 to 15 mins and then power it on again, it starts normally.
Sometimes, I hear an alarm from the MoBo (a long beep followed by a sort beep). What must be the problem here..?? Any overheating issues..?

My rig: P4 2.4GHz, Intel 845GVSR, 51MB RAM, 80GB HDD, running XPSP2.. No recent changes in hardware..

I've tried Intel Active Monitor to find my proccy temp., but ti says that my system has no sensors.. :(

are you sure 1 long beep followed by one short beep??
Because, there is two such case:
1) 1 long beep, 3 short beep-->>conventional/extened memory test failure

2) 1 long beep, 8 short beeps-->>Display test and display vertical and horizontal retrace test failure.

^^ Oh... I'm now confused.. :( Will have to observe more carefully again.. Will do that later today.. (Am now able to re-create the situation :D )
Is there any possibility of a bad or loose RAM..?? Just a thought..

Right off the assembly line
the beep codes also depend on what BIOS you have, is it American Megatrends, AWARD or Phoenix

from your beep codes( 1 long followed by one short) I presume you have a IBM BIOS, check out the following links
*www.computerhope.com/beep.htm check out th beep codes under IBM Bios
