Remote control ur linux

well tried of issue commands.now i found a way by which u can remote control ur linux machine using ur serial port.the software is lirc(*www.lirc.org/index.html).but u have built the ir reciever urself.check a pictorial here.
u can get a complete step byt step tut here.by this website even a 5 year olds can make one so why can't we

when u use remote control u can discount the net to avoid any damages or also how many hackers do hack linux based pc's??
