Reliance Freedom 999 Plan Details

I got a few PMs requesting details of Reliance Freedom 999 Broandband plan. I thought of sharing my answer to a PM, so that it would help more of you.

Hey i wanted to ask a few question about your plan as i was thinking of upgrading mine :

1. Does the line directly hooks to your pc or through a modem because i read on the forum that the line is direct & is a Metro ethernet cable .

2. How much actual download speeds do you get on torrents and on direct servers because 12mbps is very fast but we don't practically get such speeds .

3. How does reliance login system work .? Do we have to log in every time manually .? And does it auto disconnect after some time .? :O

I'm currenly using Airtel BB and it is an always on connection with no hassle of logging in

4. Can this connection be used as Wi-fi with a Wi-fi router .?
I've my Wi-fi enabled phones and my laptop so can i use them thru Wi-fi as well .?

5. Which city do you live in how is reliance service and billing there , do you get good ping for gaming.?

6. Does Reliance offers this plan on trial basis for testing also .? And what did you pay initially in total for getting installed and Did u get a modem .?

Will appreciate if you reply to all my questions , that would help a lot

Not a problem at all. In fact, I'm happy to help people out!

- Yes, direct metro cabling from a switch port, copper wiring.
- The connection speed is 12 Mbps. So the download speeds would be around 1.5 - 1.7 MBps (Difference between b & B, note that). Sometimes, you'll get much better speeds around 3 MBps. Upload bandwidth counts too and I'm happy that speed ratio is 1:1.
- Yes, browser login. You'll have to visit their website, login and ****. I hate that too. We can't even use our own DNS servers like Google DNS and OpenDNS. But, there is a solution somehow, use DDWRT on your ROUTER and write a script for auto login. And yes, auto disconnects after 2 hours of no request.
- Yes, I've a Wifi enabled smart TV, SGS2 mobile, xBox 360,... and all that **** works great.
- I'm from Vijayawada, AP. Service PERFECT, Billing AMAZING, installation SUCKS Took me 5+ days. But, waiting is totally worth it I get good pings with almost all NZ, AU, US, EU servers
- I don't think so, as they use some bigass wires until main streets and then use copper wires (if and only 30 m or less).

thanks for the info, I have applied for the connection today, lets see how it goes.

Edit- I was told, I will get a modem, and then I can connect it to my Wifi router, is it as simple as the Airtel config?...ie switch the modem to bridge mode, and authenticate via the router?
