I had read on some website that if we make a backup
of certain files of a comp which is already activated
and then restore these files on the newly installed
comp we do not have to activate it again.

I think there was an article on digit about this long time back..
I dont remember which issue. Any ideas.???

This Is The Answer !!!!!

no way. connect to the net and activate it. or get any old version of win xp and install the latest sp.
Yup. Though You will have to inform CC that you have reactivated your XP

Sorry but the fact is that you can reinstall xp without activation (without using crack, of course....:)))
The procedure is to copy "wpa" files of an already activated xp....head over to this site for step-by-step procedure....*netsecurity.about.com/od/windowsxp/qt/aaqtwinxp0829.htm
