RAM Inquiry,URGENT !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys,
I need some help here.

I plan to buy some new RAM for me.

I am interested in-
1] Corsair XMS series
2] Kingston HyperX Series
3] Crucial Ballistix
4] PDP Patriot

i want in DDR and not DDR2.
Is any of these available in India ?

I would like to know if yes,then from whom ?

Please let me know asap.

Corsair XMS are available in Prime ABGB

they were reviewed in CHIP 3-4 months ago and the supplier name had PRIME ABGB for the credits

so y do u wanna buy it anyways

the SMPS and the RAM is the weakest Link in my system.So wanna upgrade it.

I know Prime ABGB cery well, will ask Gulbir.

Hey Darky, by upgrading u mean u gonna sell this Transcend & get a stick of 1Gb CorsairXMS??
I dont think its worth it,coz the XMS costs nearly 2.5times the normal Corsair!!
U ought to get a higher Perf. gain by buying ANOTHER stick of 1Gb Transcend.

Unless u want the XMS solely for OC/ing the CPU,in which case u r still better off upgrading the CPU to a higher Ghz stepping....

darky i suggest if you can you test out the rams on your board before buying it since i heard that the asus a8n-sli can do a max of 240fsb with the memory at 1:1 , not too sure though but i have the same problem with my a8v (via chipset) if i use a divider i'm able to reach a very high htt but i cant overclock with the ram in sync even though its capable of reaching high htt

how high does your transcend ram overclock at the moment ? getting premium ram to run at 240fsb at low latencies will definitely give you a boost but its up to you to decide if its worth it or not

2gb seems a bit pointless in todays world.. might actually be slower in some cases

Well, i have one question. I have redued my ram latencies to 2-3-3-5. In sisoft sandra I can touch 3997. I have 128x2 ddr 400 ram, 865 GV mobo. When I increases the fsb 4 points it crossed 4000 mark upto 4102.
The cpu was running at 2.85 GHz from original 2.8 GHz.
Is there any other way to increase memory bandwith. The 865 PE reference chipset in sandra shows bandwith around 5000.

it does seem a bit less , i get a memory bandwidth score of 3300 for my ram thats running at 150Mhz

can you use a diagnostic utility like cpu-z to confirm that you are running in dual channel mode ?

another explanation could be that there are too many process running in the background hogging your memory and affecting your score

My Transcend can go upto 440 MHz MAX.Not beyond that.
This too at relaxed timings.

In that Table ,

under XMS it says,

TwinX512-3200 256 MB [size] 9200/-

what does it mean? this is rate for 512MB or 256 MB ?
i am confused. :roll:

Also what all brands of RAM are available there ?

Please provide this info man,i need it desperately.
