Querries on set top box!

Hi guys i want to install set top box in my home.Can i install any box from any cable operator or i have to buy only from my cable operator(hathway).Whats the monthly charges?How many channels will i be able to see?Is the picture crystal clear?Do they show unedited movies?

even in small villages they show about 75 channels. some are useless. SO can't think about big channels.

also they show four "Movies on demand" channels i.e. we can ask them to show our favourite movie. I dont know how but i have seen all this in my small village.
