hehehe nice one alib_i

anyways
think of it as a preboot utility for ur LAN card .. to obtain DHCP information when connected

dhcp information would mean Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. meanin it would obtain ip address and gateway and subnet automatically from a connect DHCP server and boot from the files provided by that or another server ..
this is used in case of REMOTE INSTALLATIONS
where the install and boot files are on another computer on a network and u boot from there instead of usign cd's

i think i covered most of it ...
anyone else?

are you sure it's only used for installation.

My college computer center has a lab where all computers have very few hardware resources (small ram, no harddisk, one lan card) attached to them and are connected to a central processor.
(forgot the exact term for these kind of systems)

They too boot from LAN .. from the central servers using similar pre-boot exection environment.
Dont they too use this feature of lan card ?? or it's something different ?
