proxy woes

im in a college and can connect to the internet only through a proxy server...

but the admin is being bugging and keeps blocking everything in sight ....
from hi5 to orkut to messengers to gamespot to evrythin !!!

the error i get is this :

is there any way to bypass this ???

There is nothing you can do except speak to the cache manager.I spoke to mine and convinced him to unblock a few sites
Alternative is that you can using tunneling

Using this you will be able to visit all the sites your admin is blocking and by all i mean ALL

The proxy server software running is Squid ver 2.5 on Linux I believe.

The best thing to do I would suggest is show him the url's which are getting blocked either purposefully or accidentally due to mis-configuration on configuring squid.Convice him by showing what the websites actually are & that there is no reason to block them if they are indeed legit & perfectly viewable sites in a college/corporate network.

There you can find lot of proxy server through which you can accesss all the sites .

i did all of that .. the anonymouse site after using it for the website www.worldcybergames.com it still gets blocked ... and the admin says no to gaming so cant do anything

cant also use hi5 thru proxy.org as doesnt let me login

If your System Admin is too strict in implementing this .. then there is nothing much you can do about it.

I live in a college too, and share your frustation all the way.
(Thankfully orkut is not blocked )

he has even put a open ban on the word movie so cant even download codecs and tools
