Problem with sony DVD RAM

Hai, i am using Sony DRU-170C DVD+RW, and AMD athlon 4000+ processor
it read's all types of CD's but it don't read some DVD's such as dual layer and some other DVD's also.. so can you tell me what might be the problem..??
and how to overcome that..???
when i tried to open Feb-09 DIGIT's DVD which containing SUSE it'l give insert disk command.

Very common problem. Reflash same/compatible firmware. If doesnt still work, change the drive. Next time dont buy a sony drive.

No. Drivers have nothing to do with this. You need to reflash the drive's firmware, which you can get from liggydee.cdfreaks.com using binflash from binflash.cdfreaks.com. If it doesnt work, get your drive replaced if under warranty, or buy a new one.

i too ve issue with sony drive, reinserting disk multiple times does needed for me, it happens only for dvd-r
