Most prob it will be bcos of bad media. Try another DVD/another brand DVD. If u r getting this error with many brand DVDs, ur writer wud have gone bad.

i think if im not wrong power calibration means the drive tried to burn a little bit of information on the disk before it actually started burning for watever reason..if it cant read what it has burn then it will return the error...i m afraid it is a failing writer...its dvd lens have weaken to a point where it could no longer muster enough fire power to burn a dvd..as a last resort you could try cleaning it with a DVD lens cleaner...yes CD lens i think are separate from DVD one .can it burn CD?

Most common reason is bad media.. Make sure u arent using cheap quality media such as umax nd all... i wud suggest moserbaer.. or else you can also try burning at low speeds..

btw whch writer do u hav ?
