Re: Post what you purchased.

Finally got some time to o'clock the card and got these results.
Default are:
Core: 600
Shader: 1500
Memmory: 900/1800

After overclocking:
Core: 730
Shader: 1840
Memory: 1000/2000

Idle temps were: 47c
Load temps were: 57c with fan speed set at 70%

Got 12101 in 3dmark06. I think that my cpu is holding me back. What do you guys think? It's E4300 @ 3GHz.

Re: Post what you purchased.

^^aah, 3DMark scores doesnt matter for cards like 9600GT/8800GT anymore! 3DMark 06 scores are good for 8600GT users, who believe that there card can still punch after seeing the 3DMark scores! :p
Anyways, 3DMark 06 loves Quad CPUs dearly! So, go by 3DMark05 scores, if u want to compare. And secondly...ur CPU isnt bottlenecking.
And btw, nice temps. Thanks to seasonal change. :D

Re: Post what you purchased.

Ya, I know that the scores don't mean much but the actually gameplay does. Just was curious for the new card. I am getting around 55fps average with COD4 @ 1920*1200 max setting. As for the cpu I have seen others crossing 14k mark easily with higher clocked proccy.
BTW, the low temps are due to the excellent cooler I have on the gfx card and not because of seasonal changes :D If I crank up the fan to 100% it goes down even further.

@asigh
I'll be getting crysis in a few days, will post the details then.........so please wait. But one thing, seeing your signature.........Pentium 2.66GHz would be a bottleneck for this gfx card. Just a suggestion.

Yo! Just bought a Compaq V3749AU for 34.5k. Mean bargain. No additional freebies, though :(

Haven't had a chance to touch it yet, kid sister's keeping it busy. How many dvd's will i need to make a recovery set?

Planning on installing Hardy Heron. Any issues I should be warned about?

@asigh
This is the results with crysis.

System Config:
Vista 32-bit
E4300 @ 3GHz
4gb DDR 667MHz (but vista 32-bit detects it as 2814mb)
8800GT 512MB
XFX 650i ultra
Forceware version 175.16

AA was turned off during all the setting

8800GT was at it's default specs......not overclocked

No tweaks or patches were applied

1440*900

SETTING
low -> 70-58 fps
med -> 45-34 fps
high -> 36-28 fps
very high -> 26-20 fps

1680*1050

SETTING
low -> 61-48 fps
med -> 40-34 fps
high -> 31-23 fps
very high -> 17-11 fps

1920*1080

SETTING
low -> 52-41 fps
med -> 35-29 fps
high -> 21-16 fps
very high -> 14-7 fps

Will post results with winxp later..........heard that there is a performance gain compared to vista. Also since I have winxp 64-bit installed, maybe some better results than vista 32-bit. A better proccy than E4300 @ 3GHZ would get even better numbers.
One more reason for me to upgrade to quad, the other being MAYA 3D :D

seems good...I am tempted to run tests too :D

but that is going to need a complete system overhaul (proccy+mobo+ram+cabby etc.) :( Also I am waiting for dell E248WFP to arrive ;)

Hey John,

thanks a lot for the Crysis specs. Great FPS your GFX system is churning out. Impressive. We all know..that till date.."VERY HIGH" + Dx 10.00 cripples all cards..but on low,med, high..you are getting good FPS. Thanks once again.

With reference to your earlier..post...regarding my 2.66 GHz...bottle necking the 8800GT..I am aware of that...! :). I plan to major "system change" soon. Will get the motherboard + GFX card + processor from abroad...probably will go for the 8800GT then..!
Will obviously seek this forums help..for my above requirments...love this place..!
