Bought a cheap (less than 500 bucks) 4 port USB 3.0 hub but didn't work out.

I'll paste the review I have posted on Amazon.in :
Connected 1 of my 1TB external HDD and immediately got the message on Windows System Tray "This USB Mass Storage Device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 port". Immediately disconnected the HDD and removed the hub. Connected the HDD to my USB 3.0 port on my PC and voila no such message. Then I tried another external 1TB HDD with the hub and same message. I think they have just coloured the USB 2 ports to blue. DO NOT BUY THE PRODUCT.
Does anyone know of any USB 3 hub that works? A long cable will be an added advantage.
If you care for your external hdd & data in it then never use external hdd with "non-external powered usb hub". Basically you want a usb hub with ac power adapter.External hdd are power hungry devices & trying to run them with a usb hub that gets power only from usb port that too divided & reduced is waiting for a disaster to happen. We are talking about 500-900mA here so yes even a cord of few cm can impact amount of current not to mention this current is to be divided among multiple usb ports. It is not like some smart hub which would redirect all the incoming current to only 1 usb port in use.Usual usb hubs with no external power adapter are only meant for pendrives, keyboards, mouse, printer etc.

Also see this review,it seems like this usb hub comes with 2 pin adapter which may not be a good thing.
Customer Review
edit:found a better hub & one comment suggests that max current per port is 900mA which is enough for any external hdd.

P.S.check your usb hub with usb 3.0 pendrive & if it works correctly then edit your amazon review too along with this new info,it might help some future buyers.
