Am using Avast along with Comodo Firewall, Malwarebytes Antimalware and SuperAntispyware. I think I have covered up on most fronts which a paid internet security suite does.
P.S - Am not comparing free AV with paid AV. Both have its own pros and cons.
I prefer Avast due to its high customization ability and its boot scan feature.

I dont use any Antivirus in my Desktop. Use Quick Heal in my laptop and it works very well. Detects most virus and malware and scanning is quick.

:)
I use utmost care when I install anything.
press shift button whenever we insert pen drive. Regularly check for Recycler folder. Keep an Eagle eye on processes. Any suspicious file that I may not have made. Cpu utilisation. Registry cleaning[helps performance]

List is long. Want a few more?

Great man!!! No AV. No nitpicking here, but how do you protect yourselves from Network attacks?
As for the list, create a thread including all your habits which would be quite useful for people even with an Internet Security Suite.

The thing is when I use net, I keep an eye on the internet use. If it is getting used when no browser is running, I directly disconnect Bsnl.
I dont allow any of my apps of desktop to allow to acess net. But yeah, when yes the Quick Heal firewall keeps on shouting bout port attack, etc but its normal as Windows firewall is shut down by it :D

But

I always recommend you to have a strong antimalware scanner engine like emsissoft antimalware ( freeware ) and a process explorer and occasionally check your system !

Avira free Just gives a BASE level protection !
A malware ( adware installer and auto terminator ) running in the background when avira is alive !
It simply pops up giving ads 5 mins interval !

Even Did a scan !

Now u can see those two malware processes !
Avira running !

Not really needed. We already have an AntiVirus thread. A poll makes no difference actually.

Theory of "Circle discussions" tells me that we are going to end up discussing everything what we discussed in d3p5kor's thread all over again in this thread.
