missed this post totally. yes it heats up quite a bit. shouldn't harm the phone but in my friends case, the two side touch buttons started acting weird. an update fixed it by lowering the sensitivity but that will also impact the ease of use.
forget Optimus One. camera is not good. if you want a camera mobile, buy Xperia Mini. Also avoid motorola. the entry level mobiles have 5Mp camera but quality is low. expect the same for they yet to be released Defy Mini. Your last option is Galaxy Ace. if you can find it for 11-12k, grab it. its video capture capability is a big fail but pictures are ok and mobile is built well.
