Playing .dat ,.mpeg files in fedora 3

come on guys u can search forum a bit too,

any waay pradeep have given u short & complete install Xine or Mplayer,
find Mplayer source on Digit DVD last month

well guys i have installed mplayer but i get an error while playing files.This is what it shows

well at first my problem was that my monitor being older LG STUDIOWORKS 440si was not able to work on resolution of 1024x768 at million colours so my colour depth is 256 colours .Is this something related to this problem???????????????????
