As per price point a view, wont it be better to purchase an Intel Atom based netbook ?

Compact product with everything integrated ?

Anyway, if desktop is a must then try following which is possibly the lowest Budget CPU

Gigabyte GA-D425TUD Combo (Intel Atom D425 + Gigabyte Mobo) @ Rs. 3,700.00
2 GB DDR-III 800 /1333 MHz @ Rs. 620.00
250GB SATA Hard Disc @ Rs. 2,300.00
DVD RW @ Rs. 800.00
iBall / or such small Cabinet With PSU @ Rs. 1,500.00
Keyboard + Mouse (iBall combo) @ Rs. 625.00
WebCam (chose any you like) @ Rs. 800.00
UPS (local) @ Rs. 1,400.00

Should come within 12k. However you have to purchase a D-Sub to HDMI converter since budget PC setup wont going to have a direct HDMI out.

The following comes with Intel Atom D425 (HT processor, single core) and Intel GMA 3600. It supports Windows XP, so operation is smooth and trouble free with Windows XP.

In faxt OP can use a small VGA to HDMI converter

Using D-sub to HDMI or D-Sub - HDMI converter is a very bad idea. They may work or may not. Worse part is even if it work, nobody can assure whether it is going to wkr flawlessly or not. Cause? Analog to digital conversion isn't correctly done with those converters.

Instead get a motherboard with DVI port and use DVI to HDMI cable. Nowadays, most of the descent motherboards have DVI port.

get intel pentium G based config as suggested in post#2.video chatting requires on the fly encoding & now-a-days h264 is becoming standard for video streaming so a decent processor like intel pentium G620/630/6xx is recommended.monitor or tv,for human eye its same so if one is harmless then other is also harmless.

Please note,m since you will run with iGP hence a lot of RAM (min i guess 512mb) would be shared by the GPU sub system hence available RAM for OS would be 1.5GB or so.

Pay a little more, (Rs. 1,100/-) to obtain a 4GB DDR-III stick.

Please avoid Micromax, it has huge problem list, especially Battery related. Also if you have determined to get a Tablet then create a thread in Laptops and Netbooks section.

Let me know and I'll close this thread.
