Pc for high quality movie experience

Manasvi

Right off the assembly line
I need to assemble a new pc for watching high quality movies.

My preferences are i5 processor with ASUS mobo(USB 3.0 compatible). 1TB HDD
With windows 7, 64 bit. A Bluetooth and wifi LAN card. And a graphic card with hdmi output for my led tv.

I already have Sony led tv 40" which I am planning to use as my monitor. I also have optical drive, mouse and keyboard and ups.

Just need the cabinet and stuff inside. Please note I'm not a gamer. Just want a high quality movie experience.

I live in Delhi. And my budget is 30k. Can push it to 35k max.

waiting for response/help

Asus E35M1-M - 7.5k
1TB HDD -7.5k
CM Elite 360 + 250W CM PSU - 3.5k
4Gb RAM - 1.45k
Bluetooth+Wifi Card - 1k

Logitech Remote - NOT OPTIONAL - Without this the awesomeness is just incomplete!! ;)
Harmony® 1100i Advanced Universal Remote

MRP - 28k Actual Price should be about 20-22k

The inbuilt GPU has everything sort of output to connect to every sort of display.

Run this configuration with XBMC home theatre if you like... and its awesomeness will know no bounds!!!! :p

u will get a the config within 30k..

an entry level graphics will do the job for movie viewing (full-HD)

only concern is high price of 1TB HDD

also have a look @ HTPC

Manasvi - The Asus motherboard has an AMD E-350 processor attached on it by default.

i5 is overkill. E-350 is particularly meant for the kind of use u have...

@lionking: Okk. But is Asus E35M1-M good enough for Full HD videos, considering I'm planning to use my LED TV as monitor?

Also would Apple's mac mini be a good alternative to my requirements?

Fits my budget but what's your suggestion?

@zangetsu, I also have an external 1TB WD HDD. So I can go for a smaller internal drive also. Can you please suggest a configuration considering my preferences? Thanks

@lionking, dude that remote is currently out of my bdgt. But i checked it out. May be in a year. :)

As u said you are going to use tv(tv with speakers and hdmi i presume) as a display then only thing you need is cpu-box. With 35k and not a gamer, I can definitely suggest you to get mac mini 2010 @ 35k. Which can easily handle hd movies like peace of cake, its small form factor and low pwr. consumption is good for setup you are looking for. Bargain a bit and maybe you can get it for even less from some place. Ask some known guy who deals in computers he can get u at lower rate than show rooms like iWorld and all, because there is only one disti. in delhi who provides apple products in delhi to these show rooms, from where we usually buy at higher prices.-)

if movie viewing is the only use then HTPC is highly recommended & now a days u get ready-made HTPC @ affordable cost..

Manasvi ,Since you are not going to play games no need to go for intel i5 you can get best movie experience with amd liano it has great gpu and post processing with this you need not have to buy discrete GPU.
Below mentioned configuration is more than enough for you.

Processor:AMD LIANO A8 3850-7,200
Motherboard:Gigabyte A75M-UD2H-6,500
Ram:Corsair 4GB DDR3 value-1200
HDD:Segate 1TB -6000
PSU:Seasonic S12II-430-2,400
CASE:Zebronics Bijli Cabinet W/O PSU-1,100
Total:24,400
And if you need thumping sound add below mentioned speaker they are really good.
Speaker:Logitech Z623-6,500

@lionking: Okk. But is Asus E35M1-M good enough for Full HD videos, considering I'm planning to use my LED TV as monitor? - It can play videos smoothly at 2560 x 1600 resolution which is ~twice as much as ur HD LED TVs so... it will do all ur stuff nicely...

Also would Apple's mac mini be a good alternative to my requirements?

ofcourse its a nice buy for the price, but for watching movies its like buying a cannon to kill a bird!!! :p

+ i dont like apple stuff... everything is proprietery... u have to pay for every damn thing... u cant use exxternal hdd's with a mac and use it on a windows pc without paying $$$ to apple(for techies - drivers for ntfs/other-fs need to be bought)... all cables are apple exclusive... blah blah blah blah blah the list goes on...

for me Apple broke all boundaries with iphone 4 when a friend of mine with bluetooth 4 couldnt send an image to me on my samsung because apple BT will transfer data to other iphones only > What kinda crap is this???

@lionking, dude that remote is currently out of my bdgt. But i checked it out. May be in a year. - dude go for it anytime u like > thats just something i would love to have if i ever go in for a home theatre... so suggested u the same ;)

@minion: thanks man. But would adding a graphic card be good? Sapphire 6670? And what about sound card?
@lionking: yeah dude apple sucks in all those things. Just the compactness of the mac mini is so attractive. Btw what do you think of minion's config?

Also suggest a solution for wifi plus Bluetooth. A decent card. Don't want cables for LAN and my Bluetooth enabled speakers. Want a tidy room. :)

Manasvi,No need to add any GPU they will just add heat and sound to your htpc regarding sound card you can go for Asus Xonar DX@4000 have you bought those wireless Speakers if not go for speakers suggested by me Actually wireless speakers lacks in sound quality department.

Manasvi - Minions config seems nice... although instead of bijli u cud go with some other compact cabinet like CM Elite 360 or any other proper htpc cabinet like CM RC100.

Elite 100 - Cooler Master - Leading Provider of Computer Case | Cooler | Power Supply

@Wifi / BT - Netgear Wifi Card(You can get from any retailer locally). BT will also be suggested by local retailers.. :p
