Outlook Error

ok i wanted to try my hands on Outlook....so i followed Instructions fm Gmail
and created a new acc in outlook....and gaved Ports for smtp and POP ..and all the other things...but still my outlook gives me the error..

The host 'pop.gmail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

is ThunderBird better than outlook.....i hav never tryed Email cients b4...r they safe ??

I hope you have done exactly the same mentioned in gmail site...

2nd thing you have enabled POP from your gmail settings right?

which version of Outlook???

go here in ya Gmail... Settings>POP & FWD Settings... there must be link to support page how to configure clients... looks for your version of Outlook and configure it....
