opinion on customs phones

is it a safe bet to buy customs phones?
are this phones reliable and not some sort of replica?

i am talking about branded phones which come in original box but without bill which mostly come through customs and they are very cheaper due to exclusion of tax, excise duty.
this are not officially sold.

It depends on which one you are purchasing.
For me in customized phones:
1: Eliminate banner ads
2: Backup everything
3: Increase battry life
4: Intallation of Custom ROM
5: Run any app accordin to the need
6: Perform other UL tweaks
